Unable to connect to Sharepoint server after upgrading Webdrive to 9.1
Posted by Jeff Swientek on 02 February 2010 09:43 PM
Problem: After upgrading to the latest release of Webdrive, I am unable to connect to my Sharepoint server from a Vista or Windows 7 PC using NTLM or Negotiate authentication.

Solution: An issue arises when connecting to a Sharepoint Server because the default LAN Manager authentication (NTLM) levels differ between the client and the server. By default, Windows 7 and Vista are set to "Send NTLMv2 responses only", where as the server defaults to "Send LM and NTLM responses". Changing the setting on the client PC addresses this issue. The setting can be changed by running secpol.msc, expanding Local Policies, clicking on Security Options, and scrolling down to Network Security: LAN Manager authentication Level. Right click on the setting, click Properties and change the setting to "Send NTLMv2 session security if negotiated", close secpol and retry the connection. This setting is also configurable via regedit: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\LSA\LmCompatibilityLevel = 1.
