Can I use WebDrive with my MS Access Database?
Posted by SRT HelpDesk Admin on 16 March 2005 10:09 PM
Q: I have a MS Access MDB database on my FTP Server. Whenever I run MS Access and attempt to access the database, the entire database is copied to my computer. Then, when I close MS Access, the entire database file is uploaded back to the FTP Server; why?

A: WebDrive uses FTP, which transfers entire files instead of database records. When MS Access attempts to open your MDB database file, WebDrive will download that file to your computer so that MS Access can manipulate the data in the database. When MS Access shuts down, WebDrive will determine if MS Access has made any modifications to the MDB file; and if it has made changes, WebDrive will upload that newly modified MDB file to your FTP Server.
